John Denver tribute

John Denver’s own banjo player Jim Connor, right, joined Chris Collins, second from left, and members of the Boulder Canyon Band Saturday night at the Seven Points Amphitheater for the annual concert in tribute to the late folk singer. Connor, a musician of many accomplishments and surprise guest at the concert, is perhaps best known for penning “Grandma’s Feather Bed,” made popular by Denver on his 1974 hit album, “Back Home Again.” Houston-based singer Collins and his band mates have been convening at Raystown Lake for the better part of a decade to celebrate Denver’s beloved music. Also joining the musicians were, backing vocalist Lindsay Burda, left, and lead guitarist Paul Swanton, second from right. The concert, which concluded the amphitheater’s summer lineup, was a much more cozier event than planned thanks to savage rains that swept over the lake area, driving the audience onto the covered stage.
